God's faithfulness deserves to be remembered!

Zakar (zāḵar), the Hebrew word for “remember” is more than recalling the past; it’s a call to action. Found over 230 times in the Old Testament alone, zakar invites God’s people to remember His commandments, His character, and His faithfulness in a way that physically moves them forward. In Hebrew culture, remembering isn’t passive—it’s the practice that propels us into the future with courage. When we zakar, we move forward with confidence into an unknown future, trusting that the same God who was faithful before will be faithful again.

God places great importance on His people remembering His promises because this spiritual discipline builds faith, strengthens our relationship with Him, and prevents spiritual amnesia. We are called to meditate on things above (to remember; to zakar) and step forward on what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, good report, virtuous, praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8-9). Meditating on God’s truth and His faithfulness literally rewires our brain to seek out those patterns.

My hope is that you are encouraged by all the ways you see God’s hand moving in your life. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and your story is His glory!
